Beautiful and unique Scandinavian design
The stores of the Bolia furniture chain serve as display windows, with unique scents, music and furnishings. The aim is to surprise customers with home furnishing solutions they do not expect. To this end, rose-coloured Troldtekt acoustic panels are being used as decorative elements.
The Danish Bolia furniture chain is dedicated to making shopping for home furnishing dreams a sensory experience. The chain’s 57 stores, spread across nine European countries, aim to stimulate all five senses. The sense of hearing through carefully selected music, touch – by interacting with the furniture, the sense of smell via a unique Bolia scent, taste – through a special coffee, and the sense of sight through surprising interiors.
“We want customers to think ‘wow!’ when they walk through our stores. That’s why we come up with all sorts of different forms of decoration. We’ve used ostrich feathers, wooden panels, large white balls and a whole range of other elements you would not intuitively associate with design furniture. Simply in order to make the shopping experience exciting and surprising,” explains Thomas Fruergaard Schelander, Technical Design Manager at Bolia International A/S.
Troldtekt has also found its way into all the chain’s stores. Three Troldtekt cement-bonded wood wool panels serve as a backdrop to Bolia’s best-selling ‘Scandinavia’ sofa. They have been custom-painted in a dusty rose colour.
From catalogue to stores
The idea of using Troldtekt panels with the design furniture was inspired by pictures taken for the Bolia Lookbook, which is released every year in August. In the product catalogue, the sofa is featured in a room where the walls are lined with Troldtekt panels from the floor to ceiling. The styling has inspired the use of Troldtekt panels in the stores.
“We think Troldtekt is a great material. The panels come with built-in nature, and a fascinating surface structure. We had the panels painted in a rose hue which is not a part of the standard colour range. Troldtekt was happy to receive our colour samples, and ended up precisely matching the colour we want,” says Thomas Fruergaard Schelander.
