Filmby Aarhus is situated on the harbour in Aarhus, between Dokk1 and Jyllands Posten, in a row of three buildings – all with views of dock 3.

Filmby’s creative business park is now home to over 100 companies, all of which work with movies, media or games. The harbour’s industrial character has also influenced the architecture of Filmby, where a former turbine building has been converted into offices and studios.

Filmby 3 has also been built using robust materials, and offers an inviting setting to passers-by and the many people who work or study in the area. The building thus stands out by reaching out to its surroundings and creating greater cohesion in the district.

Inspiring building

Filmby 3 is home to the Kaospiloterne and Aarhus Filmværksted study courses, as well as FILMLAB, Funday Factory and many other companies. The building has been designed for optimal flexibility in relation to the many tenants, with interiors based on simple and sturdy materials like concrete, COR-TEN steel and wood.

Most ceilings are clad with Troldtekt acoustic panels, which effectively ensure a low reverberation time and add warmth to the settings.

With its varied spatialities and countless possibilities, the new Filmby provides space for innovation and inspiration within the digital and visual sector. “The Garden in the Machine” art video installation by artist Jesper Just is being planned on Filmby 3’s facade. The vibrant facade will become a landmark for the whole creative district on the harbour.
