An unusual and welcoming office in Nordhavn, Copenhagen has been completely renovated by By & Havn. The office has an open plan and a unique charm.

Acoustic ceilings from Troldtekt in offices and commercial properties

Adjacent to Pakhus 54 is Copenhagen's Freeport, which serves as a reminder of the site’s industrial history and location. The same warehouse houses several large creative companies, including COBE, which designed the neighbouring metro station Orientkaj. The top floor is a loft that originally housed the Øk central laundry.

In 1984, office space was added around the old central laundry and in 2023, the loft was completely renovated, which is now a modern office space. The original staircase and steel windows have been preserved and form a focal point for the top office space.

Seamless interior design

Øresund Pharma has moved its office from the centre of Copenhagen to this rooftop with views of the harbour and city, sky and sea. The company sells pharmaceutical products to the Nordic countries and is headquartered in Copenhagen. The furnishings are stylish and simple, with a combination of open-plan offices and meeting rooms surrounded by exclusive glass walls. The floors are made of oak and the ceilings have skylights along the corridor. Black Troldtekt line is installed on the ceilings, contrasting with the large windows and referencing the black wooden facades with lines.

Morten Olafsson from By & Havn, architect and project manager for the project, explains that the use of black Troldtekt line was an unusual choice, but after seeing other examples of this particular ceiling solution, it was an obvious and otherwise very successful one. The recessed light fixtures emphasise the seamless experience of the interior design. The floor also includes a roof terrace that wraps around the premises' three facades.
